MetroRail: A Rail system that travels through Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. In Arlington the metro is serviced by the orange and the blue lines. There are 10 metro stops in Arlington which are serviced by the blue, orange and yellow lines... The orange line services: Ballston-MU Virginia Square-GMU Clarendon Court House Rosslyn The blue line services: Rosslyn Arlington Cemetery Pentagon City Pentagon Crystal City Reagan Washington National Airport and the yellow line services the Pentagon Pentagon City Crystal City Reagan Washington National Airport

 

Virginia Railway Express (VRE): A train that travels through Northern Virginia, Alexandria, Crystal City and Washington DC VRE has 2 lines one from Fredericksburg, VA and the other from Manassas, VA. The only stop it makes in Arlington is in Crystal City. The VRE has a Guaranteed Ride Home" (GRH) program in case you need to get home in an emergency.

 

Arlington Transit (ART): Operates within Arlington County, Virginia, supplementing Metrobus with smaller, neighborhood-friendly vehicles and providing access to Metrorail and Virginia Railway Express (VRE). Most of ART's state-of-the ART buses operate on clean-burning natural gas; all have climate control to keep you comfortable and dependable schedules to keep you on time.

 

STAR: STAR, Specialized Transit for Arlington Residents operates as a part of the ART - Arlington Transit system. ART provides bus services in Arlington County, and STAR is our pre-arranged paratransit reserved trip service. STAR provides service by reserving a trip through Red Top Cab, Diamond Wheelchair Services Arlington residents who are certified under the STAR program may call to request a trip reservation, set up a standing order trip, make advance cancellations and receive general information about STAR and other transportation services by calling (703) 228-TRIP. Residents certified under the STAR program are charged a $2.00 fare, payable on the vehicle for each one-way trip provided. People who are currently certified eligible under the Metro Access program and reside in Arlington County are automatically certified under the STAR program.

 

Airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is the closest airport to Arlington County and is accessible by metro. Dulles International Airport (IAD) is the next closest to Arlington County and is accessible by metro to the West Falls Church station and then taking the Washington Flyer bus. Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI) is the furthest away from Arlington County and can be harder to get to. You could take the metro to Union Station and then take the MARC train to BWI airport.
